Actions Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: ACTS), one of China's leading fabless semiconductor companies, today announced that it has introduced a new ear-friendly technology, Actions Ear-Friendly, or AEF Technology, designed to help promote safe listening levels for users of portable music players that utilize Actions Semiconductor products.

AEF technology enables automatic control of volume and TSL (Time Spent Listening), thereby assisting and reminding users to protect their hearing. Users can set their protection level through the menu function. Moreover, they will be advised whether the current volume is within a range considered acceptable and healthy.

Compared with previous versions of ear protection technology, AEF will have no effect on the audio experience. As such, Actions' products featured with advanced audio technology, such as SRS (Sound Retrieval System) technology and this new AEF technology, will bring users cinema-like experience while effectively protecting their hearing.

The AEF technology will be gradually implemented across Actions' entire product line. Initially it will be adopted in the Series 9 and 7500 products by the end of January, and then in Series 13 by the end of March.

"As a global leading PMP SoC provider, Actions values product security and the user experience," commented Mr. Tang Li-Hua, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Actions Semiconductor. "We are committed to developing health-conscious and innovative products internally and with the assistance of our valued technology partners."
