Anystream, the leading provider of multi-platform publishing solutions to the media industry, today announced that Transit Television Network (Transit TV), a provider of video entertainment, information and advertising to mass transit riders, is using Anystream's Agility(TM) platform. Transit TV utilizes Agility to automate the complex and time consuming process of converting content provided by different partners and recorded with different formats into one broadcast-quality format. This enables Transit TV to produce more than two hours of content a day and deliver it to one million commuters daily, while eliminating manual production, freeing up as many as 80 man hours a week, and enabling personnel to spend more time on content creation and development.
"Agility paid for itself in a matter months by freeing us to work on more creative projects," said Jeff Hartlieb, Director, Content and Production, Transit TV. "Our content comes from a wide variety of partners including local news stations, advertisers and others. Assembling it into one hour of programming was previously a challenge, as every partner delivered their video in different formats. By automating the process of converting all this content into one broadcast-quality format, Agility has saved us huge amounts of time."
Transit TV purchased the Agility solution and put it into production during the summer of 2006. Transit TV assembles video clips ranging in length from 30 seconds to five minutes into two one-hour blocks of programming. Clips range from advertisements to short biographies, news and weather programs, consumer technology tips and more. The programs are broadcast during the AM and PM commutes to viewers on the Orlando, Milwaukee, Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles mass transit systems.
With Agility in place, production work is done automatically and without the need for manual intervention or monitoring. In addition, Agility's enterprise-class, fault-tolerant architecture allows Transit TV to schedule jobs to run twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. As a result Transit TV has reassigned employees to higher-value tasks such as creating new programming and enhancing the look of existing programs.
Anystream Agility is an end-to-end platform for automated media production, from ingest and transformation, to programmatic editing, transcoding and packaging for digital distribution. Agility combines a modular architecture that scales to achieve unparalleled output capacity, a robust Web Services API that facilitates seamless integration with enterprise systems, and a proven fault tolerant redundant design for demanding 24/7 media operations. With more than 500 installations, including over 100 high-capacity enterprise-grade multi-node systems, the Anystream Agility solution automates more media production tasks for the top media companies than any other digital media production and publishing solution.
