STORY SUMMARY:

With 97% of the total online population in Canada using the Internet to communicate with friends, and 38% visiting a blog at least once a week, the way Canadians are using the Internet to interact with each other is evolving. This new community-driven experience is called, 'social media', and it's bringing people together through Internet services that help anyone find, use, share and expand upon any content. Good examples of "social media" include social publishing, blogs, photo sharing and people-based searches.

This is according to a new Leger Marketing survey, commissioned by Yahoo! Canada, which recently announced two new and innovative services to help Canadians take advantage of the benefits of social media.
