ClearCube Technology, the market leader and pioneer in PC Blade computing, today announced five new healthcare customers that have implemented the ClearCube Blade computing solution -- including Civista Medical Center (La Plata, MD), Clark Memorial Hospital (Jeffersonville, IN), Jewish Hospital (Louisville, KY), Fort Healthcare (Fort Atkinson, WI) and Kingman Regional Medical Center (Kingman, AZ).
By deploying the ClearCube solution, these facilities are now experiencing 99.9 percent uptime availability, stronger patient record security and easier manageability for their IT staff.
"ClearCube PC Blades have made a vast improvement on the work/life balance of our IT staff," said Linda Minghella, IT director at Civista Medical Center. "We only have support staff on-site 12 hours a day, so if something goes wrong in the middle of the night, they can now remedy the situation remotely and easily, seeing almost four nines of uptime."
"ClearCube's centralized management approach was the biggest benefit to us at Jewish Hospital," said Scott Alderman, assistant director of IS at Jewish Hospital. "With ClearCube we are able to store the processors in a centralized, secure area. Previously, people were stealing memory and CPUs out of PCs in public areas. Also, a decentralized model needs to be addressed with full time employees to maintain accordingly. This model was both a management nightmare and expensive."
The ClearCube solution allows medical facilities to remove the computer from the workspace, shrinking it to a PC Blade and centralizing the blades in a secure data center. The ClearCube Management Suite allows IT staff to remotely manage and switch between computers and users, enabling a "touchless" IT environment. By deploying the ClearCube solution, customers realize greater uptime, stronger data and physical security, and at least a 40 percent reduction in support costs while providing end users with a full PC or workstation experience.
"At Clark Memorial Hospital, we've found that the ClearCube solution has made it easier to comply with HIPAA requirements compared with a traditional desktop or notebook PC," said Jere Roche, network services team leader at Clark Memorial. "The security benefits are significant -- there's no longer any information stored on the user's computer. Prior to our implementation of ClearCube, if someone lost a notebook PC, for instance, there's no telling what kind of information was compromised. Now, even our wireless tablet computers are thin clients that don't contain patient health information."
"The ClearCube solution gave us the flexibility to do exactly what we wanted to do," said James Dahl, director of IT at Fort Healthcare. "The PC Blades are both efficient and reliable; since the deployment, there have been no complaints of slow or sluggish systems and any problems have been fixed from home due to remote management capabilities."
"We're exceedingly pleased with the ClearCube solution. We look at Blades as a long-term solution for our facility," said Shawn Burgess, director of IT at Kingman Regional Medical Center. "The strongest benefit is high availability of the Blades. The number of troubleshooting calls has dropped dramatically since the ClearCube implementation."
"These customers are a testament to why so many other healthcare institutions from around the world have turned to ClearCube to help deliver digital hospitals," said Carl Boisvert, president and CEO of ClearCube Technology. "Going forward, customers like these are going to look for ways to simplify their IT infrastructure, while delivering the best-of-breed care to the patients and customers."
