A long-time user of the Eclipsys 7000(TM) heritage clinical information system, UCI Medical Center will implement the latest version of Sunrise Clinical Manager(TM), the award-winning foundation of the Sunrise clinical suite, as well as other integrated Sunrise advanced clinical solutions: Sunrise ED Manager(TM), Sunrise Medication Manager(TM), Knowledge-Based Charting(TM) and Sunrise Ambulatory Care Manager(TM).
"The advanced clinical capabilities of the Eclipsys Sunrise clinical suite will enable UCI Medical Center to achieve its vision of a world-class academic medical center for our community," said Dr. Eugene Spiritus, chief medical officer at UCI Medical Center. "In addition, Eclipsys' state-of-the-art clinical solution will help us create a truly patient-focused healing environment by providing a single electronic medical record for our patients in all venues of care, including the Emergency Department and outpatient clinics. As a result, our faculty physicians and staff will be able to communicate better between caregivers."
"We have had a history of outstanding support from Eclipsys on our heritage system, and we know that the company provides the most comprehensive solution for acute and ambulatory venues of care," Spiritus added.
The Sunrise clinical suite helps healthcare organizations save time, costs and improve quality of care by delivering best practices across the enterprise and the continuum of care on a single, integrated technology platform. As a result, the many individuals involved in a patient's care can share information seamlessly. The Sunrise clinical suite supports integrated medication management and cross-provider workflows. Information handoffs between providers, departments and shifts can be completed with efficiency, accuracy and the support of knowledge. The strength of the clinical solutions in the Sunrise clinical suite enables Eclipsys to support a health organization's goal to be among the best places to both give and receive care.
In addition, the open, objects-based XA(TM) extended architecture of Sunrise enables a healthcare organization to quickly and easily extend and integrate these clinical solutions to communicate with other clinical, non- clinical and legacy systems.
"Eclipsys is excited that our Sunrise clinical solutions will be an integral part of UCI's new world-class facility," said R. Andrew Eckert, Eclipsys president and chief executive officer. "UCI Medical Center has shown its continued confidence and satisfaction with Eclipsys and our solutions. We're proud to help it break new ground in achieving the interoperability of clinical practice and technology to save time, costs and lives."
This agreement was signed in September 2005.
