EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage, today announced EMC Documentum(R) Archive Services for Imaging software, the latest addition to its family of enterprise archiving software products. The software offering provides customers a single, unified archiving platform for collecting, retaining, securing and retrieving all types of document images for compliance and legal discovery, content re-use, improved decision-making and operational efficiency.
Documentum Archive Services for Imaging is a packaged offering that combines EMC Captiva InputAccel(R) document capture software with EMC Documentum technology and is designed for customers who manage large volumes of paper documents. It converts paper documents to electronic images to free-up physical storage space; enables rapid and secure electronic access to stored information within the enterprise; and facilitates enterprise-wide search and discovery to eliminate unmanaged archives and minimize document loss. As a result, customers in industries such as banking, insurance, healthcare, legal, manufacturing and government can lower costs, improve operational efficiencies, mitigate risks and manage changing business requirements.

With this unified archiving approach, customers can reduce costs associated with archiving information in paper form, consolidate siloed archives for different information types and provide faster access to archived information.

EMC also announced EMC Captiva InputAccel(R) for EOBs(TM) document-capture software (see separate release). Available immediately, Captiva InputAccel for EOBs is designed to help healthcare providers streamline and accelerate the processing of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) forms, reduce errors and recover medical procedure revenues otherwise left unclaimed. When combined with Documentum Archive Services for Imaging, Captiva InputAccel for EOBs provides an end-to-end solution for intelligently capturing, archiving and accessing EOB forms.

The company also announced today an enhanced version of EMC's backup solution for the EMC Documentum platform. Available in June 2006, EMC NetWorker Module for Documentum provides customers with synchronized tape or disk-based backup and recovery of all EMC Documentum enterprise content management repository elements including full-text indexes containing index information for documents in the repository, databases containing document information and relationships, storage areas containing content files and information, and configuration files containing Documentum software and configuration files. Now, customers can receive stronger recovery management of critical Documentum assets and components. This offering, in addition to EMC's broad range of recovery management products, supports the industry-wide shift in emphasis from the process and technologies of backup to the ability to quickly, easily and comprehensively respond to and recover from any data event.
