Bluewater Systems Breaks New Ground with Contract forAustralian Defence


Press Release, February 2006, BluewaterSystems: Bluewater Systems, the Christchurch-based ARMtechnology specialist, has been awarded a contract toprovide advanced electronics development services to theDefence, Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO), part ofthe Australian Department of Defence.


The DSTO,Australia s leading science agency dedicated to defence andnational security, has awarded Bluewater Systems Ltd acontract to design and develop a component device for ahighly advanced, mobile secure communications system.


Following a thorough and competitive tender process,Bluewater Systems was selected as the preferred supplier forthe project, which consists of the delivery of high-techelectronic design services. Valued at close to NZ$500,000,the contract is the company s first foray into the Defencearena.


Bluewater Systems, who recently completed asuccessful multi-million dollar project for NEC, is knownfor expertise in electronic design including compact PCBdesign, and the application of ARM microprocessor technologyand FPGA development. The company s extensive experienceensures that it is well suited to the development ofadvanced electronic devices for use in both military andcivilian applications.


Tim Trewinnard, General Manager ofBluewater Systems, said, "To be awarded a governmentcontract with an organisation such as the DSTO is asignificant step forward for Bluewater Systems.
