Pure Technologies Ltd., TSX-V: PUR, today announced that it has now completed installation of its SoundPrint(R) AFO fibre optic pipeline monitoring systems for four water agencies in Canada and the U.S. The total length of pipeline being monitored is approximately 53 kilometres. The systems are designed to provide continuous remote monitoring capability to detect and locate structural deterioration on large-diameter prestressed concrete transmission mains. Using its proprietary SoundPrint(R) data acquisition, management and processing protocols, and web-based reporting, Pure provides a monitoring service that notifies agencies of structural events of interest anywhere along the length of their pipeline. This information is used to determine if and when repairs and replacement are required.
The deployment of this innovative, patent-pending technology is a key component in Pure's growth strategy. The availability of a distributed optical fibre sensing system facilitates cost-effective long-term or permanent monitoring of longer pipelines than was possible with Pure's conventional electro-mechanical sensing systems. This is expected to result in increased sales and recurring revenues. Pure is currently in negotiations with a number of other agencies in North America regarding deployment of AFO and will be undertaking a pilot program next month for a large overseas pipeline agency.
