Laing has a 34-year history in the technology industry, having held senior management positions with industry leaders in multiple markets: content discovery (Inxight), security (Symantec), desktop operating systems (Apple) and document printing (Xerox).
While serving as the executive vice president of worldwide sales for Symantec from 1989 through 1997, Laing grew sales from $15 million to $600 million and orchestrated several high-profile acquisitions, helping advance the company to its current successful position. Most recently, serving as president and CEO at Inxight, Laing grew revenue by 65 percent, expanding the company's worldwide channels. He also currently serves on the boards of the Opportunities Industrialization Center West (OICW) and Workshare. Previously, Laing served on the boards of Macromedia and Entercept Security Technology (acquired by McAfee). Laing is also a past chairman of the Software Publishers Association.
