SavaJe Technologies, developers of the most advanced, Java(R) technology-based mobile operating platform, today announced a global partnership with beeweeb, a leading software solution company focused on the design & development of entertainment-verticalized on-device portal technologies such as music, media and mobile TV for major worldwide wireless operators.
Under the agreement, beeweeb has joined the SavaJe Mobile Java Experience Partner Program and integrated its beePlayer client into the SavaJe Mobile Platform(TM). The companies are also focusing on joint development of off-device content functionality, as well as cooperative global sales and marketing programs to handset manufacturers and mobile operators. From ring tones to streaming and downloadable songs, music has quickly established itself as a major growth driver for the mobile device industry. Research firm, Frost & Sullivan, estimates that global mobile music service revenue will reach $725 million in 2009, more than tripling the market from 2004.
"Integrating our music client with the SavaJe Mobile Platform empowers us for the first time with a 'no compromises' development environment to deliver a graphically immersive mobile music experience for consumers," said Filippo de Vita, sales & marketing VP, beeweeb. "Free of the cumbersome WAP environment, we have proven that operators can drive increased music revenue with a dynamic, user-friendly interface for purchasing music."
The SavaJe Mobile Platform(TM) radically simplifies and accelerates the development of highly customizable, richly branded and secure user interfaces across mobile feature phone handsets. beeweeb's acclaimed solution enables consumers to browse remote music catalogs, purchase, download and manage local and remote songs and playlists. The joint solution will deliver an unparalleled mobile music experience, enabling consumers to do much more with their phones and the applications that operate on them, including greatly increased capabilities for:
* Locating available types of mobile entertainment (music, mobile TV);
* Quickly and easily downloading mobile entertainment, and
* Manipulating and managing (play, pause) mobile entertainment.
For consumers who are accustomed to desktop applications that have only been economically available in a fixed environment, content will be easier to access and use because of the SavaJe/beeweeb relationship. In fact, according to feedback from beeweeb customer operators, the average volume of user downloads tends to increase up to eight times.
"SavaJe's ability to provide an easy-to-use and feature-rich mobile technology platform offers operators a complete and seamless way to orchestrate new services for customers," said John McCready, senior vice president of marketing for SavaJe. "Through our agreement with beeweeb, we are providing customers with the opportunity to reshape and expand the use of mobile phones by offering new personalized services and unique user experiences."
Mobile handsets powered by the SavaJe Mobile Platform and featuring the integrated beePlayer client are expected to ship in 4Q 2006 from an Asian manufacturer.
